Sweetwater Residents Warned About Fake Ring Scam

Sweetwater Police are warning residents about a new scam that is bilking residents.

A couple is pretending to be in need and offering to sell the jewerly to get money to where they can get back on the road. They claim they are having a hard time.

When people take the ring to a pawn shop or jeweler to get it appraised, the victims find out the rings are worthless.

The Sweetwater Police Department is reminding the public of common scam tactics, which often include:

  • Deals that seem “too good to be true”
  • High-pressure sales that rush you into a decision
  • Refusal to show documentation or proof of authenticity
